The City of Coeur d'Alene’s City Council passed rules and regulations related to short-term stays in residential structures, sometimes referred to as Vacation Rentals (VR) on December 5th, 2017.


Short-Term (Vacation) Rental Permit Fees:


TIMELINE:

The City of Coeur d’Alene is accepting permits online at this time. Code Enforcement will be actively searching for properties that are operating without a permit. The city will process and issue permits in the order received.

 

PRIOR TO FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION:

To apply for any type of license, you first need to have a personal web account issued to you. There's a button at the top of the License page (www.cdaid.org/License) that will take you to the www.cdaid.org/License/ApplyForPersonAccount page to do that. Our staff will review your application and then, upon approval, email the login details.

 

ONCE YOU’VE COMPLETED YOUR ACCOUNT SETUP:

  1. Review the supporting documents and the copy of the Short-Term-Rental ordinance below.
  2. After reviewing the "ITEMS NEEDED FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION list below, apply for the license at: www.cdaid.org/License

The following is a list of items that will need your attention to successfully apply for a short-term rental permit. The following items are provided because they require additional information beyond checking a yes/no button. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. This list is provided for your convenience to help you prepare.

 

ITEMS NEEDED FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION:

These are supporting documents that the city will need a copy of, in addition to your application. You will attach a scan or digital photo to provide the following documentation:

Emergency phone number Neighborhood Notices: That you have installed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors where needed 2-A-10-BC Fire extinguishers on each floor (tested) Address numbers facing the street (4” tall & ½” stroke minimum) Type of unit (Condo, house, ADU, etc.) Additionally, if the unit is part of a structure that has a fire sprinkler suppression system, you will need to provide the date of the last inspection. This is typical of multi-family/condo buildings.
